Nicholas is the founder and conductor of the string ensemble Tamino Orchestra, with whom he has conducted Strauss’s Metamorphosen and the UK première of Arvo Pärt’s Greater Antiphons, as well as the premières of his own works Into the world of light for solo cello and orchestra and Procession for string orchestra. Last year Nicholas conducted a new production of Handel’s Acis and Galatea for English National Opera. He is also much in demand as an assistant conductor. He assisted John Adams on a recording and performance of Doctor Atomic with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Future assisting work at ENO includes Rusalka (also at Luxembourg). In addition to his work with professionals, Nicholas has conducted amateur orchestras, choirs and choral societies.
