Composer
Nicholas has written instrumental and chamber music, songs, choral music, choral works with orchestra, organ music and a piece for youth orchestra. His opera, Carina, has received a highly acclaimed showcase at English National Opera, and his works for string orchestra such as Into the world of light have been performed by Tamino Orchestra. His recent church music includes Mass of the Creation, Ave Maria, and Ave verum corpus.

Pianist
Nicholas is a regular recitalist as a soloist and accompanist. He has an extensive career as a répétiteur, with a long association with English National Opera, and he is a regular guest at the Royal Opera House, Hallé, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Opera Rara and elsewhere. He was répétiteur for Sir Simon Rattle on the Aix/Salzburg Ring cycle with the Berlin Philharmoniker.
Conductor
Nicholas is the founder and conductor of the string ensemble Tamino Orchestra, with whom he has conducted Strauss’s Metamorphosen and the UK première of Arvo Pärt’s Greater Antiphons, as well as premières of his own works. He has conducted a new production of Handel’s Acis and Galatea for English National Opera and is much in demand as an assistant conductor, for instance assisting John Adams on his recent recording of Doctor Atomic with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
